Letting Go: Transitions, Hinges & Illusions with Nina Infinity
To find flow, sometimes you need to let go and trust in your hoop, your dance partner.
We’ll explore an array of interesting hinges and wraps to smoothly shift between various moves, planes and on/off body. Discovering the letting go/contact point in a hinge allows the hoop to hypnotically flip and flow around your body and arms as you dance.
We’ll also look at how you can use isolation techniques to find flow between moves. Then, we’ll link everything together into a combination and experiment with incorporating them into your own repertoire.
Musicality: Putting The DANCE In Hoop dance with Guest Instructor Kacie Knight
This multi level workshop will be exploring techniques that put the DANCE in hoop dance. We will play with all kinds of dynamic movement, including core hooping, footwork, breaks and reversals and expressive dance in a satisfying blend tech and flow.
About Guest Instructor Kacie Knight:
Kacie is an Artist in Residence with Dani Altiere Inc. teaching dance and gymnastics, in schools in the Edmonton area. She adores sharing the joy of movement with thousands children each year. She also loves facilitating movement medicine through the energy of sacred play in dance workshops for kids and adults of all ages with her company Dancing Into Being. Kacie has been hooping since 2010 and has taught and performed at events throughout Western Canada, and has co-created several retreats focused on self care, sacred play and movement medicine. She has taught several weekly class series with Infinity Hoopdance and is thrilled to be teaming up with them once more to bring you this workshop.
About Guest Instructor Michele Charest:
Michele found hoopdance in 2014, first at a hoop jam in the Lethbridge hoop community. She quickly fell in love with the new accepting tribe and found a transformative dance practice. Hooping has brought Michele an oasis away from the busyness of everyday life and has aided her in connecting to the present moment. She hopes to bring that same peace and enjoyment as well as empowerment and space to play in her hoopdance classes with kids and youth.
Michele has taken many hoopdance classes in Edmonton & Lethbridge over the past three years and participated in many flow arts workshops. She recently completed her Hoop Play Certified Instructor training the past fall 2016 and is excited to teach Infinity Hoopdance’s first kids class!
